Personality:

Matthew Collins or just Collins as he is known in the military lacks certain areas of confidence, he is a little shy when first meet him and he is usually working on his paper work and avoids eye contact unless talked to directly. However he really opens up once you get to know him personally. He is a fairly down to earth kind of guy. He has very mild temper and it is a rare thing to rile him up with anything. He was picked on from his siblings to kids a school all his life and he eventually let things roll off him or he took it in stride. He is a really kind man and would never wish harm on anyone even though he knows it comes with the territory of being a ranking officer in what is left of the Air force military. If he needs to he will do what needs to be done.. but he is the opposite of what would be called impulsive, he is incredibly rational.

Collins is very sensitive for a guy, emotions are very close to the surface and anyone can see what he is feeling plainly on his face. He is also really good with feeling empathy for another if he sees a sensitive situation where it might be sad or anger for another he will try to downplay or defuse the situation as best he can if he is permitted to. If he cares for another he will go out of his way to help them and ensure they are happy. He is compassionate to a fault, he would stop and help a enemy in pain if he has a chance.

When it comes to his career Collins holds it very important to him, it is a rare moment when Collins doesn't have a piece of work with him. It has become such a important thing to him at the fall of the modern world he considers it apart of his identity






Your Story Please?
Matthew was born the youngest to Melina and Ben Collins in a small town in New Jersey. He had a older Sister Marissa and a older brother Joshua. His family had little money as he grew up and him being the youngest he was often given handmedowns from his siblings and he shared a room with his brother joshua. Both he and his brother felt jealous the their sister always got her own room. As many brothers do he and Josh fought on occasion, Josh liked to tease or provoke him and like wise Matthew did the same when he could to both his siblings.

When school started Matthew found himself picked on by the other kids, despite his sister and brother being well liked in school.. He soon thought that might been the problem. His sister was a soccer star in the school while his brother was a really friendly boy always telling jokes and making alot of friends. Matthew was neither really athletic nor incredibly charismatic he also wore old clothes from his brother that a few kids teased him about.

As he got older Matthew became the slightly introverted quiet kid in class, he liked to read and for the most part kept to himself to avoid the kids that liked to tease him. He did end up making some friends who were like him in the respect he was quiet and bookish. He also was really good in class, even though all his teachers suggested he speak up more in class.

In his teenage years he came out if his shell a little, he joined a computer science club in high school and also became a stage manager thanks to his brother in the drama club. He was so good at it he was asked to remain in the position even after his brother graduated from high school. Matthew went on a few dates with a couple girls from his class even though nothing serious came from them, Matthew wasn't sure why but there was little spark between him and his dates. They mutually agreed to just be friends and then went on their separate ways with no heartbreak or so he believed.

When he was 17 his parents divorced years of stressing about money and kids had left their marriage loveless by that point. They had hid it from their children a best they could. Till then at least since their kids were mostly grown up and they could understand what was happening. Matthew still being underage had to live between both his parents he would live a mouth with his mother and a month with his father. Eventually finally he graduated and he was asked what he was going to do next, his sister had moved to San Francisco to go to university there on a full scholarship. His brother tried to make is an actor in Los Angeles and he was moderately successful when he dated a girl for a few months when he found out he was going to be a father. Matthew at this point wanted to join the military and make a name all on his own. No one in his family really thought military life was for him and were shocked when he really made up his mind to go after he got his acceptance.

He did fairly well in the training, and followed orders well enough when he was on tour in the field. He wasn't the most commanding or strong of the young men and women out there. But he was really smart and rational his commanding officer recommended him for a promotion to lieutenant and to take the junior officer post under Major Samantha Carter. It was around this time concern of a global epidemic came about and his team was tasked to help the civilians rebuild or keep civilization in line. He was horrified as he watched the world as he knew it crumble, last he heard from either of his parents they were really sick and the neighborhood they were in was falling into chaos with people panicking. He wanted to help so badly it tortured him to know his parents were that bad a of a situation. Sam even gave him leave to go if he wanted, however through either fear or knowing there was nothing he could do for his parents he choose to stay at his post and help those within his reach. Particularly when even there own started to get sick and even die. He helped take care of them as best he could, until he started showing symptoms of the illness as well. All he knew was he was helping take care of his comrades when his world went black and he woke up in a feverish state seeing Sam look worried between him and Captain Damian Knox.
